Leo List Tips - How To Spot Scammers

Post by blueman »

How do you guys tell whether ads are legit or not?

Good signs would be:
- looks like it was shot with a selfie camera or her friend took the pictures.
- photos from a spa or agency website
- it's at a hotel you recognize the decor (check travel sites to see interiors)
- Ad mentions things like "extras" or "party friendly"

Bad signs
- Things like power outlets or outdoor signs are clearly not in North America
- Photos are all different kinds and the lady doesn't even look the same - might be a picture stealer
- over-promises, basically too good to be true
- exact address in the ad, independents don't do that, possibly a "revenge" ad
- "just 18" or something similar, police stings are not common in Canada, but they do happen

I'd assume it's fake because the photos look a bit too "pro" (like shot as a porn shoot). The 'OnlyFans" link in some of the photos seems to make it look a bit more legit.

Look the pictures up in tineye.com or google image search, you might turn up matches on Instagram or other websites that indicate that they are stolen.

Any other good tips, please include them in the comments.

Also, if you do encounter a scammer, post them in the Health and Warnings section.

All good advice

I do look at the ad in context. Obviously most ads for Asian providers….we know they are rarely real pics. “Agency” ads may be more structured and similar. But that is sometimes a tip to scam as well.

Anything requiring a deposit - I assume is a scam unless it’s a well known lady with reviews.

And then, there is just gut feel……

This might be more of an issue for guys on dating sites, but since we're used to people using filters on their profiles, I'm guessing we'll have a watch out for AI-enhanced photos too. Most of these tools are free, and the results don't always look as arty/obvious as the ones in this article.
