backpage redirect to US site

Given I use a VPN to download stuff, the following happened to me...
I chose a US IP adress this time....I had the mishap of browsing backpage at the same time...got redirected to the US page (given US IPs are not even allowed to check BP from other countries, which still allow escort adverts)...now, even as I deactivated the VPN, I get redirected to the stupid US webpage...any recos??? I use chrome. I can still use other browsers, but I prefer chrome.
